First Vice-President: Jessica Kratz
Hi everyone! My name is Jessica Kratz, and I am beyond excited to be serving as the South Dakota SNA Vice President this year! I am a junior at Augustana University in Sioux Falls. On top of studying nursing, I am also minoring in Biology, Sociology, and Children & Youth. At Augie, I serve as the Secretary for our Student Nurses Association, the co-chair for Viking Days, the committee that plans Augustana’s homecoming week, a Viking Guide, welcoming first-year students to campus in the fall, and a Student Ambassador for the Admissions Office. Outside of school, you can probably find me with friends exploring nature, enjoying coffee from a local coffee shop, or in the kitchen baking my stress away. My career goal is to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. I am excited to work with student nurses across the state and make an impact through this role. Please don’t hesitate to contact me at any time with questions, concerns, or ideas!

Community Health Chair: Carlie Simkunas
Hello everyone, my name is Carlie Simkunas, and I am honored to be serving as the Community Health Co-chair for the South Dakota SNA 2021-2022. I will be starting my third semester in the Accelerated Nursing Program at the University of Sioux Falls this fall. I am from the Twin Cities but am loving being a new member of the South Dakota community. My original degree is in Spanish and Global Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. I worked as a paralegal in immigration law for two years before deciding to pursue a degree in nursing. After graduating next year, I hope to become a Critical Care nurse because I have a heart for caring for the gravely sick and their families. I am also passionate about helping underserved international communities, so I aspire to be involved in Seed Global Health, an NGO that provides medical and nursing education in less developed countries. I am very excited to serve the South Dakota nursing student and broader community this year!
